School Start Squash – KEY COACHING POINTS

Prioritize safety before setting up equipment for each session. Prepare ahead of time by reading and planning for each session.

  • Give clear explanations and demonstration and show video for each drill/exercise
  • Command the room and be patient.
  • BE POSITIVE!
  • KEEP IT FUN!!
  • Remember to employ STOP, SHOW, and GO during your squash workouts.

STOP: Ensure that students can see and hear your instructions. Focus on telling students WHAT TO DO and precisely naming the activity, shot, or talent.

SHOW: Demonstrate the activity to students twice or three times to ensure they understand where to go and what to do. Give every student a clear understanding of your actions. Ask questions to the group to check for understanding before starting the session, so they can clarify the rules and activity instructions.

GO: Start and switch: Inform players with the start and end times of the session, as well as the new exercise, location, and instructions for transitioning.
