PLAY THIS VIDEO TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY A FOREHAND BOAST WITH 3 FEEDING OPTIONS

For the Boast, move the nets to create as many three-wall courts as feasible.
- Two students demonstrate for the entire group the three feeds options shown below and in the video for a forehand boast.
- These are the three feeding options based on the skill level:
- Mini cross-court serve for boast (bounce to serve if necessary).
- Handfeed against the side wall.
- Drop the bounce feed.
- The group chooses a feeding option and divides into small groups or pairs.
- Choose a designated feeder for each pair or group to feed a two-wall boast into the side wall.
- In the group every student takes it in turn to hit a boast before rotating around. Change the feeder once everyone in the group has hit 2 boasts.
- If feeding in pairs, switch who is the feeder every 5 boasts.
- Demonstrate and repeat the backhand.
SIMPLE WRITTEN TECHNICAL POINTS:
- The boast uses the same swing as the forehand and backhand drives, but the ball must be hit into the side wall first, followed by the front wall.
- The ‘striking point’ should be slightly behind the torso to produce an angle with the side wall. Turn your shoulders towards the back corner of the court to assist with hitting the correct angle.
- Follow through to the side wall where you want the ball to go.
- Remind students to keep their distance from the ball. It is easier to miss the ball when you are too close.
