School Start Squash 5.1 FUN GAME – SQUICKET

PLAY THIS VIDEO TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM SQUICKET

Today’s fun game is SQUICKET. It’s a terrific game for people of all ages and skill levels that can be played in almost any setting. Squicket can be played individually or with a team.

INDIVIDUAL SQUICKET: This game requires:

  • One hitter, one feeder, and the rest of the team scattered around the gym as fielders/catchers.
  • One student bat at a time, hitting the ball against the wall or using the hand feed. Everyone else is fielding.
  • The teacher serves as the feeder (if possible). Hand feed the ball by throwing it onto the wall or net, and the student’s goal is to accumulate runs by hitting the ball against the wall or net and then running to the designated spot (a cone or wall) and back to hit the next ball.
  • Students bat one at a time, attempting to score as many points as possible before getting out.
  • A player is ‘out’ if they miss the ball when batting, are caught out (by a fielder) or are run out (if the ball returns to the feeder, but the batter does not arrive in time to hit the feed).
  • Repeat for each player. The winner is the student who has the most runs/points.

TEAM SQUICKET:

  • Same regulations as above but divide the group into two teams. One squad is designated as the ‘batting’ team, and the other as the ‘fielders’.
  • The fielding team selects a ‘feeder’ (if not the teacher), and the rest of the team is divided into fielders who are scattered throughout the gym. These students should try to catch the ball and return it to the feeder as quickly as possible.
  • The ‘batter’ strikes the ball from the feed, then returns to a target, touches it with their racquet, and returns to hit again (for one run for their team). Repeat until out and the next team member arrives to hit from the feed.

The Squicket game is played until all players from both sides have been eliminated. The side with the most runs wins!!
