School Start Squash 3.3 – REPEAT HITTING FOREHAND & BACKHAND DRIVES FROM DROP BOUNCE FEED

It is vital to reinforce what the students have learned over the last two weeks by repeating the forehand and backhand drives off the drop bounce feed, but only for a short period of time so that the rest of the class can be spent working on cooperative rallies.

  • Begin on the forehand side for only 5 minutes. Remind them of the proper grip and restricted swing on the forehand and backhand.
  • Divide into pairs or smaller groups and proceed to a net/wall space. Select the ‘feeder’ for the pair/group.
  • Remind the students to line up at the back of the court, allowing enough room for the hitter to swing safely.
  • When it is their turn to hit, each student stands sideways to the net/wall, racquet head up (but not too high) and with the correct grip. Student moves to the rear of the line, and the next student steps in to hit.
  • Repeat on the backhand side for 5 minutes.
