School Start Squash 1.8 – GROUP SELECTIONS & EVALUATION

Establishing the appropriate groups as soon as feasible will contribute significantly to an enjoyable and effective session.

  • Evaluate the ability levels from the forehand drives hitting session in this lesson and form the first pairs or groups for lesson 2.
  • Coaches can adjust their coaching methods to each group’s individual needs by creating skill-level pods. Students with similar skill levels can grow at a pace that is both demanding and manageable for them.
  • It is beneficial to utilize a folder/notebook to take important notes on students and appropriate groupings for future sessions.
  • The number of ‘courts’ available and the number of students in the group will determine the size of each smaller group. If feasible, keep the groups small to allow for more playing time for each student, resulting in more fun and less distractions.
  • For example, divide 30 students into six groups of five.
