PLAY THIS VIDEO TO LEARN HOW TO HIT A FOREHAND RESTRICTED DRIVE
Watch this video to learn how to hit restricted forehand drives against the wall/net with a drop bounce feed. Set up the nets in a line (see image below).
Feeding this practice can be done in pairs or small groups, depending on the number of students and workspace capacity.
Following the demo video, have two students demonstrate the drop bounce feed and forehand drive to the full group.

SAFETY REMINDER: Always wear eyewear!!!

- Divide into pairs or small groups of four or five students. When working in groups, designate one student as the ‘feeder’, feeding the other students in their group for restricted forehand drives. Players A and B work in pairs, feeding and hitting before switching.
- Each group moves to a net or wall position. Position the racquet approximately 4 feet from the net.
- After the ‘feeder’ has fed everyone in their group twice, switch roles so that everyone takes turns being the ‘feeder’. The group should line up behind the court, leaving enough space for the hitter to swing safely.
- Before each hit, the hitter should stand sideways, racquet head up (but not too high), and with the correct grip, then walk to the back of the line to let the next student hit.
- Repeat the technique until each student has fed their group twice.
If any students are unable to hit the ball, there are other ‘hitting options’. Solo racquets skills are also excellent exercises for improving hand-eye coordination. You can learn more about both of these later in the course.
