TIP: Keep the feeding fun and engaging by adding targets and points for good shots​​

POINTS TO WATCH FOR AS A COACH ONCE MOVING PLAYERS AROUND:​​

  • Do the players understand the movement required to different shots and areas of the court? ​
  • Is the racquet and body position starting in the same for all shots?​​
  • F/H straight drives, progressing with the group working together to get the highest number of hits consecutively, or number in a certain time.​
  • B/H straight drives, progressing with the group working together to get the highest number of hits consecutively, or number in a certain time.​
  • F/H straight drives, shots above the service line, progressing with the group working together to get the highest number of hits consecutively, or number in a certain time.​
  • B/H straight drives, shots above the service line, progressing with the group working together to get the highest number of hits consecutively, or number in a certain time.​
  • Progress by making the targets more difficult/challenging.​
  • If players advance quickly, bring in the cross-court drive and consider also feeding to different areas of the court to challenge the player to move correctly and still hit the drive. Moving a player forward and back and side to side so they start to understand the movement required through the T. ​

KEY POINTS:​

  • Coach should use this time to observe and correct technique and positioning without focusing too much on it. KEEP IT FUN!​
  • Individually show encouragement and reward your players.​
  • Adapt difficulty by pairing players and have them work together.​
  • Change ball difficulty depending on player’s level. ​
