TARGETS:
- Targets help players to focus on the goal of their shot and add a fun element of competition.
- Mark out appropriate targets in the playing area using cones, chalk, masking tape, court lines, racquet covers, etc. (Safety Note: Be sure that they are not slippery or in a safe position).
- Set a time limit and count how many shots players or the whole group can hit a target in that time. As they improve, make the target more challenging. Target competitions between groups and courts add fun competition and focus from the players.

SCORING:
Using scoring with feeding, open and closed drills, or conditioned games, can create excitement and help to focus the students.
Try these out, or produce your own variations:
- Cats’ Lives: Start with nine lives. Lose a life if you lose a rally.
- Golf Scoring: Loser of rally scores a point and also gets the next serve.
- Best of Five: Play the best of five games but start each game from 7/7. This works well for teaching the 10/10 situation and dealing with end of game pressure points.
