PLAY THIS VIDEO TO TEACH COMPETITIVE RALLIES ON COURT USING KING/QUEEN OF THE COURT

COMPETITIVE RALLY: King or Queen of the court.
- Begin with a serve and rally anywhere on the court. If on a standard court, play on ¾ of the court while the rest of the group waits in the ‘free’ back quarter. The players play rallies for a specific time (3 to 5 minutes recommended).
- Up and down the river score: Two players switch courts at the end of each timed session. The player with the most points advances ‘up’ a court, while the person with the fewest progresses ‘down’ a court. If there is a group, the remaining players will either stay on the same court or move two players up and two down.
- Play for the allotted time, and the player with the highest score wins.
VARIATION: Limit the area of the court that students can hit into.
- Play mini games in a round robin event for added competition and tactics. Two students play for a maximum of five points. Others in the group can use sheets to score and referee matches until it’s their turn.
- All students in each round robin category compete in a game of five points against everyone in their group. The player with the most points from all game’s wins.
- Use the round robin sheet to record the scores of each round robin group. Encourage students to develop a basic game plan and ask for lets if necessary.
